Greensburg, Kansas – From Victims Of A Tornado To Wind Harnessing Champions
Wonderfully uplifting film from Newsy about the residents of Greensburg, Kansas, whose town was destroyed by a tornado in May 2007 leaving virtually everyone who lived there homeless.
Half of the 1500 residents of the town left immediately and those who stayed faced a bleak future attempting to rebuild their homes and community.
headed by wind turbines, the town is in the enviable position of producing more energy than it consumes
Thankfully, the residents made the decision to rebuild their town using a 100% renewable energy plan, headed by wind turbines, and today are in the enviable position of producing more energy than they consume.
One interesting highlight of the film is that even the local school, Kiowa County high School, has its own wind turbine.
